Maintenance of the gutters is essential.

Your gutter is the narrow trough or duct which collects rainwater from the roof of a building and diverts it away from the structure, typically into a drain. It may be lined with rubber, metal, asphalt or roofing felt and may be concealed behind a parapet or the eaves, or in a roof valley.

Gutters must be maintained regularly to remove leaves and other debris to keep them from clogging. Gutters that are filled with debris can overflow and soak the foundation and damage the roof structure.

Clogged gutters can cause water leakage into the house as the water backs up, and can also lead to stagnant water build up which allows mosquitoes to breed and also allows grasses and weeds to grow in the gutter.
